Alappuzha south Circle


Alappuzha south Circle is a newly constructed police circle, which came into existence on 30.09.2002 as per GO.MS.105/02 (Home), dated 06.07.2002. This circle comprised of Alappuzha south police station, Punnapra Police Station, and Traffic Police Station is also functioning under this circle prior to that Alappuzha south police station was functioning under a circle Inspector as SHO.Punnapra.p.s was under Ambalappuzha circle and Traffic police station was functioning as Traffic. Unit.


The jurisdiction of Alappuzha south police station extends to three villages Viz, Pazhaveedu, Alappuzha west village and 3 wards from Mullackal village.

Paravoor village, Punnapra North village are coming under the jurisdiction of Punnapra police station. The entire area of Alappuzha south police station and Alappuzha North police station is coming under Traffic police station jurisdiction. All the two police station RTA cases are being registered and investigated by Traffic police station w.e.f. 26.06.2006.

Police Stations - Alappuzha South, Alappuzha Traffic, Punnapra

Alappuzha South Police Station is one of the oldest police stations as in the State and its exact opening date is not available. The station is now functioning in a new Govt.Building since 14.12.2003.

Punnapra Police Station was opened on 01.10.96 vide GO.RT.1606/Home dtd.24.09.06.

Traffic police Station was opened on 26.08.06.

All the police station was functioning in Govt.buildings. The present Inspector’s office is functioning in a new Govt.building No.459 (B) in ward No.20 of Alappuzha Municipality. This office is located in the same compound of Alappuzha South. P.S. The Northern side of the circle is Alappuzha North circle Southern side is Ambalapuzha Eastern side is Pulinkunnu circle and Western side is Arabian Sea.
